As well as knowing about WHMIS itself, it is useful to know where to find information about the specific chemicals you work with.  Many companies provide MSDS for their own products on their web sites.  Some organizations, such as the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), also provide profiles of common chemicals. Some web sites that you may find useful:

• Where to find MSDS on the Internet
• Chemical Profiles (CCOHS)
• Chemical Manufacturers with MSDS on the web (ILPI list)
• Chemical Manufacturers with MSDS on the web (SIRI list)

Note: Many MSDS on the Internet are from US companies.  The regulatory requirements for MSDS are different in the US than in Canada.  US MSDS may or may not be WHMIS compliant.
